Pierre Gasly has got his hands on the third-place trophy from the
Monaco Grand Prix, over two weeks after the race concluded. The
Frenchman crossed the line inside the top three, but a duo of
five-second time penalties dropped him down the order at the
chequered flag. Alpine lodged a protest over the final result and
had the penalties for speeding in the pit lane successfully
overturned. It meant that Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar was denied his
first podium finish with his new team. Despite Gasly getting sent
the Monaco trophy, the results of the race are far from certain.
Red Bull and McLaren have both lodged a protest after they were
impacted by the ruling in Alpine’s favour. However, the outcome of
this protest may not be known for several weeks. Until then, Gasly
can enjoy the company of the sixth trophy of his F1 career and his
third with the Alpine team. See Gasly’s social media post below!
